Ian Schneider is a dual-title PhD student of Applied Linguistics and Asian Studies at The Pennsylvania State University. He received a B.A. in Linguistics and an M.A. in Linguistic Theory and Typology at the University of Kentucky. He has led various undergraduate linguistics courses at the University of Kentucky as well as in-service English language skills and pedagogy teacher-education workshops at the Jeollanamdo Office of Education International Education Institute in Yeosu, South Korea. He has also taught conversational English in Namak High School in Muan County, South Korea and substitute taught in various public schools in Sacramento, California.
Ian‘s research interests include English language ideologies in East Asia, ELT instructor identity, the role of English in the internationalization of Korean popular music, and the sociolinguistics of stylized speech and improvisational comedy performance.
